STEEP IN THE CLEAREST WATERS YOU'LL EVER SEE

Image

Explore the river life in a canoe on the Embogo River or jump in an outrigger canoe and paddle the coastline around Tufi at Cape Nelson.

Tufi has exceptionally clear waters, abundant fish and beautiful corals in its fiord-like rias formed by ancient volcanic eruptions.* Discover the easily accessible wrecks and reefs with spectacular drop-offs, habitat to hammerhead sharks and moray eels. Wanigela, on Collingwood Bay, has great places for snorkelling and can be reached by boat from Tufi. Tufi resort can also arrange deep sea fishing, windsurfing, swimming, canoeing or just point out the best spots to laze on the white sandy beaches.

Organise a guide with your guesthouse and get some advice on how to read the river and tides.

*Did you know?

Papua New Guinea’s rias are over 90 metres deep and rise vertically out of the water to over 150 metres. Wide entrances are protected by reefs, which funnel into the mountainside where mangroves form a canopy over narrow waterways. The vertical faces of the gorge are covered with moss and orchids and stunning waterfalls cascade directly into the sea.
